Ever thought what makes me happy... ..

We are all running in a race. A rat race. And all that we know is that we have to win. And we know it because we are taught that from the childhood. What is the meaning of this victory? For most if not all of us, it is to be well educated to get a good job to be in a relationship with someone who enhances your brand equity; basically to make and look everything comfortable. But is looking comfortable the same as being comfortable? And when we achieve what we were taught to believe to be our goal; we still for some unknown reason find our selves unhappy, uncomfortable amongst all the comforts, lonely amidst the crowd. Ever thought why this happens to us. Why we are unhappy even though all we seek is happiness. The reason being that we try to seek from outside, we try to learn our definition of our happiness, our goals, our desires from others. The reason being we are scarred to ask ourselves. We are afraid if we talk to our hearts for we might listen to a voice that speaks sonorous but it talks of a different goal a different aspiration a different dream then what this world teaches us to believe. It is simply so convenient to be like everyone else that it really is difficult to be like ourselves. Our strategy is social acceptance approval from others, a look of surprise on our friend's face enviously admiring our material possessions. It really becomes a fight between us and I. And the lesser mortals that we are, we all choose others over ourselves. And the quest for happiness is happily sacrificed on the road to nowhere for that is the direction all the rats run and seeing all the rats around we believe we are meant to be one like them. On the altars of success lies a livid heart yearning to live, thinking if that is how he wanted to live.

From Expectance to Acceptance

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So said Einstein. Well said and a lot of content if you understand the meaning. It actually resolves so much of conflict in your life if you promise yourself to practise it. For instance with habits. We all believe we will tell others of their mistakes, what disturbes us about them and make them like ourselves one day. But did you ever try changing yourself. Doing things differently and accepting others the way they are. Did you ever move from expecting to accepting? And the results are really beautiful. Believe me. Accept people the way are. Rationalize and bring the change within yourself. When even God does not change things. He simply is a witness to all that is happening around, why do we mortals forcefully try to change things and get upset when we get different results. In Bhagwaad Gita it is said that 'expectation is the root of all misery'. Stop expecting. Start accepting. And this is the right moment to make that right beginning. The road to happiness is from expectance to acceptance.

The quest for truth

Truth.. the elusive dream, the eternal goal. Seekers have sought it for ages, seers have sweared by it and we all say I swear I say nothing but the truth. But what is truth? Is truth different from that what is true? Is it a relative or an absolute concept? Is it elusive? It is easier to say the path of truth then follow it. One man's truth is another man's lie. Is truth then relative? I call from this end of the globe telling my ma its the middle of the night. Nope she says its early morning. I see everyone eat here all that is non-vegetarian and I say non-vegetarianism is the way of life. But then back there I know a place where everyone eats nothing but a pure vegetarian diet. I know a place where people speak so much about truth and honesty and the country still somehow manages to bottom out on the transparency index. And then there is a world here that looks so much up at the East with reverence for filling up the spiritual void that is so omnipresent in the lives here. This world though it does not know too many philosophical words to utter the engaging intellectual debates of truth, somehow manages to put that truth in everyday life. Everything is so much simpler here. Is it too good and too simple to be true?
Is truth a way of life? Why do we have to be true? To whom do we have to be true? And where does this quest for truth begin and where does it end... or like all things Divine is truth all eternal?

And the woods led me to an unknown road

Deep and dark woods, endless paths merging into the azure blue skies.... walking with a careless abandon a dusky figure silhoutted against the olive branches... murmuring a whispher into her ears. The nature speaks.. only if you care to listen.. Looking for a best friend who could be my revelation to the unknown, as I strolled along the manicured lawns, I could see things hitherto unseen. Sometimes all differences blur into that meaning of nothingness. Descending skies, rising birds, setting sun, blooming flowers mean to say something.. this all really is so close to Divinity. There was a time when not a simple day would pass by without visiting a temple or a mosque or a church or a gurudwara. I was born and brought up in a home where life began with principles and ended with Values. So I just never questioned that one ought to be principled, honest, true and all that stands for integrity. The values got so deeply ingrained in me that all that I can feel about me is the realization of the existence for a bigger cause. The essence remains the same to this day and its fragnance only continues to grow stronger with every passing moment. But somehow soewhere the conventional notion of accepting them, the traditional way of doing things gets questioned. As I travel across the globe, a wanderer that I am, the realization dawns on me.. I am not just a wanderer ...in wandering lies seeking. I seek to know the truth. I seek to see reality. But it is said the world is just a reflection of that Divine reality. I was never taught to accept things blindly... I learnt to question, to blossom the seeds of goodness... and today in that beautiful garden I seek the buds that one day will blossom into values to give the fragrance of Divine Love to the world.
